UVI Research and Technology Park Corp. (RTPark)

This knowledge-based economic development program in the US Virgin Islands draws stakeholders from the public sector, private sector and an academic institution - the University of the Virgin Islands - which guided RTPark's founding and legislative charter in 2002.  From a standing start in 2005, we grew the tenant base to 28 companies as of 2014, generating over $200MM in USVI-based (annual) revenues in markets including e-commerce, cyber security, medical applications, technical consultancy, financial/market research, proprietary algorithms and other intellectual property.  We worked closely with Territorial and Federal government counterparts to harmonize RTPark’s Territorial tax incentives to US Federal law.

Active Director, Advisory and Interim CEO Roles

Emerging and growing businesses are collectively the innovation cornerstone of our economy.  We have served in director, board-level advisor and/or interim CEO roles for growth businesses, such as those shown at left, in varied industries such as competitive telecommunications, online transactional privacy, portals, device drivers, mobile devices, location-based services, and web-based software - typically, during key inflection point periods for these businesses.

Accelerators/Incubators and Capital Resources

Efforts to support emerging business models have been a key priority for ZHIS.  Over the years we have engaged in and supported a variety of Texas-based incubator, accelerator and private equity partnerships, including Dallas Angels (angel investor), Red River Ventures (Limited Partner and Advisor), Seedstage (Mentor), STARTech Early Ventures (Mentor Leadership) and WhatWorks (Managing Director).  More recently, we've worked with the Florida chapters of 1 Million Cups, Startup Quest and the National Association of Entrepreneurs.
